Long cold winter

Don't follow the flock - make your communications stand out from the crowd

It's easy to fall into the trap of bunkering down and waiting for the winter to pass, especially if you or your organisation is in the middle of a crisis or difficult situation.

From experience, I can tell you it's better to be on the front foot and walk out of that situation with your head held high.

I can hear you now - 'that's easier said than done' - and you're right. It is easier said than done, but with some careful planning and pulling the right team together, I assure you that you can weather the storm and come out smiling.

Having a crisis plan, in my opinion is vital. Practicing what you will do in a crisis, putting that plan into action is even more important.

When we work with our clients on Crisis planning and management we get them to think about these key elements:

* What does a crisis look like for you?

* Who will be in your crisis communications team?

* Are they up to it? Do we need to offer media training?

* How will we notify people?

* What will we say? Develop 5 key statements

* How will we assess our response?

* How will we review our actions so that we can learn from them?

If these issues, raise concerns for you about your organisations' state of preparedness, and you'd like to know more about developing a plan or training your staff how to respond, please give us a call. We would be happy to help. We can be contacted on 0412 583 577.
